Free Tuition thru '23

Most South Carolina residents are eligible for free tuition* Fall Semester 2022 and Spring and Summer Semester 2023!

Multiple state programs are available to provide no-cost or reduced tuition. Take these easy steps:

    1. NEW STUDENTS: Apply for free and be admitted to the college. 

      RETURNING STUDENTS: If you have not been enrolled during the last three semesters, create an account on Apply Now and complete the online admission application. 

      CURRENTLY ENROLLED STUDENTS: Be sure to complete the FAFSA in step 3 if you have not done so yet.


    2. Choose your major:
      Business Culinary and Hospitality
      Education Engineering and Manufacturing
      Health, Human and Personal Services   Information Technology
      Law and Criminal Justice Maintenance and Technical Trades
      Media and Visual Arts  University Transfer

      Please note: Students who are in default on federal student loans are not eligible for the free tuition program. DACA recipients are not eligible due to state and federal regulations. Dually-enrolled high school students are not eligible for the free tuition program; however, tuition assistance and need-based scholarships are available to reduce tuition.

    3. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov. Completing the FAFSA may provide additional federal and state funding. For more information and help, click here.

    4. Register for classes. There is no minimum credit requirement. For help selecting classes in your major and to reach your career goals, see your assigned advisor or a Navigator in The Hub.

*TTC will apply any federal and state grants and scholarships for which you are eligible (for example: Pell, S.C. lottery-funded tuition assistance, etc.). The college will waive any remaining tuition, registration and course fees. Depending on financial aid package, some students may receive money for books, digital course materials, fees and supplies.

Requirements for free tuition vary based on the state programs awarded. You will receive information on any requirements once awarded.

Out-of-state students majoring in one of the free tuition programs will be provided a fee reduction equal to the out-of-county rate
